Writing Fantasy From Childhood and Beyond with Kathrin L. Hutson

This is the Books and Authors Fantasy Podcast Episode 65 with Kathrin L. Hutson.

Good day and welcome to this episode of the Books and Authors Fantasy Podcast. I’m your host, podcaster and author of Fun Fantasy Reads, Jamie Davis. This podcast is exactly what the title says it is, a show focused on everything in fantasy books.

This show will cover everything to do with fantasy books. From Epic Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Sword and Sorcery, and everything in between, expect to find the best and brightest authors from all the various corners of the fantasy book world. Plus we’ll add in a few other very special guests as well along the way.

Now let’s get into my weekly update. Stolen Destiny, book 4 in my Broken Throne urban fantasy series came out last Friday so I’m still very much in launch mode for that book. One more book in the series comes out in three weeks and then the complete series will be out there for folks to enjoy.

For my current writing project, I’m hard at work on a book for authors that talks about the different ways we can get our books into audiobook formats. This is coming together nicely and I hope to get the first draft of that book into the hands of my writer’s group for feedback later this week.

As soon as that’s done, I start writing on book 8 from my Extreme Medical Services series. It doesn’t have a title yet. Maybe I’ll be able to release that to you all here in an upcoming episode over the next few weeks.

As always, if you’re interested in more information on what I’m up to, check out my fan group on Facebook, Jamie’s Fun Fantasy Readers and on my website and blog, JamieDavisBooks.com.

Coming up on this week’s interview is Kathrin L. Hutson. Kathrin started creating worlds on her 10th birthday, writing fiction has been her one constant, driving force (closely followed by reading it). And while most of her work is Fantasy (of the Dark variety) and Sci-Fi, none of it is for the faint of heart.

Kathrin prefers wildly messed-up characters—ones you love but would never want to face—excruciating circumstances, impossible decisions, and adventures that, most of the time, only make things worse. We talk about her books including Daughter of the Drackan, book 1 in her Gyenona’s Children duopoly.

Kathrin’s alter-alter-ego is a wife and mother (to one human offspring and two canine children), and she lives with all of them in Vermont.

Check out my interview with Kathrin coming up next.
